Priyanka Chopra wore custom kaliras for her wedding to Nick Jonas

Priyanka Chopra’s wedding to Nick Jonas was about combining tradition and love – and it showed in every little detail.

In addition to Chopra’s wedding gown embroidered with important words and dates and the two wedding ceremonies, there was another detail that was specially designed to portray the love between the newlyweds – the bride’s customised kaliras.

According to Ami Patel, Chopra’s wedding stylist, the kaliras – the gold embellished umbrella-shaped ornaments that are attached to the bride’s bangles – worn by Chopra on her wedding day told a “love story.”

“From a symbol from Greece where Nick proposed to PC to Cupid to a cross and the Trishul from both their religions, to the steps of the Met where they first met, to an engraved silhouette of both of them to Mr Chip Potts – the couple’s favourite character from Beauty and the Beast and many more,” Patel captioned a photo of the kaliras on Instagram. “Each kalira was a symbol of their love for each other.”

The bride’s jewellery designer Mrinalini Chandra echoed the sentiment on her own Instagram, where she wrote on an initial glimpse of the bride’s wedding outfit: “Some projects fill your hearts with so much gratitude. This one will forever be truly special in my heart.

“Presenting for the first time ever, one-of-a-kind custom kaliras for the incredible Priyanka Chopra by yours truly.”

“That’s amazing and so adorable,” one person wrote of the detail.

Another said: “Lovely details.”

Chopra wore the custom kaliras with a red wedding lehenga by Sabyasachi for her Hindu wedding ceremony to Jonas in India.
